Run by Goldi Miller (originally a fashion designer) Fashion Angels Enterprises, previously known as The Bead Shop, has taken the kids craft kit market by storm. Her design-oriented fashion design and jewellery making kits and products for girls are all do-it-yourself and encourage young girls to be creative.
They are successful because they are cool (pretty important to a tween girls!) - Fashion Angels products use real materials (so there are real glass beads instead of cheesy looking fake ones and there’s nice sturdy wire instead of plastic laces in the jewellery design kits, real fabrics in the Fashion Design kits and real make-up in the Make-Up Artist Kits, etc.), the difficulty level is just right so the Kits are 'doable' and the products are packed with enough stuff that the fun won't all be over in an afternoon.
Fashion Angels kits are carefully designed to educate through play, so children are taught the basic skills of jewellery making, fashion design and make-up artistry for example. The packaging is also cool and appropriately designed so that girls can relate to it and actually want to buy it!
