We gave Djeco's Felt Pictures Sweet Nature craft kit to our little four year old Edith as a Christmas present as we thought we would try another craft activity to see if she liked it. Edith absolutely loves painting and colouring but is less enthusiastic about scratch art and other crafts. Her sister Clara loves all crafts she has tried, especially glitter art and scratch art so we wanted to be fair by giving them both craft kits for Christmas.
Djeco's Felt Pictures involves sticking pre cut self adhesive felt stickers to four individual pictures to bring them to life - each picture has guidelines where to place the stickers and it is great for practising hand to eye coordination and manual dexterity. Edith decided to do the craft kit whilst her sister and dad were building Lego models as she wanted to produce something herself. I thought we would just have time to do one picture but Edith loved doing it so much she did all four in one sitting!
Edith wanted to do the tiger one first and took to it straight away with minimal involvement from me - thanks to the outlines she knew where to place each piece and practised her counting to make sure she had the correct stickers for each picture. It was remarkable to see her sitting still in one place for longer than ten minutes (that rarely happens!) and fascinating to see how much care she took with each design. She proudly showed her dad and sister each time she finished one and couldn't wait to start the next. Edith found the whole activity a lot of fun and really enjoyed producing her own artwork - we would thoroughly recommend this simple yet brilliant craft activity as perfect for getting little ones into crafting. She now can't wait to try the next craft activity we can find for her!
