PLAN Toys - Sustainable Play
PLAN Toys focuses on wooden toys made of reclaimed rubber woods that enhance development for children, especially during those incredibly important first five formative years. PLAN Toys was formed in 1981 by Vitool Viraponsavan and has been inspiring children and families over the world with sustainable and environmentally friendly toys ever since. The brand prides itself on using natural sustainable resources and processes to produce their beautiful toys.
All PLAN Toys products are made from natural rubber wood trees that no longer produce latex and no fertiliser is added to the soil for three years prior to harvest to ensure that the wood is non-toxic. PLAN Toys then use a chemical-free kiln drying process to make the wood durable and also grind surplus sawdust and wood chips in a thermal process to minimise waste. The pieces are coloured using organic pigments and water based dyes and once the pieces are formed, the products are put together using a certified formaldehyde-free glue instead of toxic wood glue. The sustainable approach is also applied to paper materials which are made from recycled paper and soy inks.
PLAN Toys is a carbon neutral toy company who replant thousands of trees every year to absorb carbon dioxide from production. Their toy museum is powered by solar energy to reduce electricity usage and carbon footprint. All PLAN Toys products meet rigorous international safety standards and the company is certified for their healthy work environment. PLAN Toys give back to their environment and community through their toy museum, local facilities and activities, children's clubs, reforestation and a project to make toys for children with special needs.
PLAN Toys is an exciting, innovative and sustainable brand that Crafts4Kids is proud to stock - the more sustainable, eco-friendly toys there are available for children, the better the environmental health of the planet and the reduction of plastic waste that is so harmful can only be a good thing and a brilliant message for children to absorb through play.
